The Combo that (nearly) won me the FNM Foil


Hi Everyone to my blog! Yes yes...it is going to be a MTG blog again...It was so exciting that I have to share with all fellow players about this and what I have done yesterday that made some of my opponents amused and still happy after scooping. What exactly contributes to a happy game of magic that left people pondering after the game about the deck that you are playing?

You can read about the junk rites deck that I was playing last last week (I had no MTG for last week and this Wednesday Due to work), just have to scroll back to the post that I won the Farseek Foil. This week I changed a few cards.

I dropped a Gyre Sage and 2 Copies of Lingering Souls for 3 copies of Undying Evil.


What!?!?!? Some of you may ask... why that card??? I was actually watching a match a versus match on Starcity Games Youtube channel while having dinner in office on a day that I had to work late (Instead of going for MTG)...And I saw this Card in action and it completely synergies with my deck. How did I missed this card for so long!?!?

This is what Happen....I had like Thragtusk and Restoration Angel in my deck...(Yah yah standard), and when the Thragtusk is in play. My opponent attacks with the Falkenrath Aristocrat, threatening to take me with 5 damage (He sac. a Doomed Traveller for it), what I did? I Blinked in the Restoration Angel, (Blinked my Thragtusk and gain 5, make a beast), then blocks the Falkenrath Aristocrat. Before damage he sac his spirit to make him indestructible, I casted Undying Evil on my Restoration Angel, she dies and Comes back with a +1/+1 counter placed on it, and I get to blink my Thragtusk again for 5 life and another beast token. Finally I finished him off with a well timed Craterhoof Behemoth.

On another instance, I had obzedat in play (And a Trostani), and is sitting on a comfortable 40 life, and he had a chance to throw two searing spear on my obzedat. (I was wondering why didn't he throw it on my Trostani). Anyway I had undying Evil, and that obzedat comes back gaining me another 8 life and brings him down another 2 life. And yes! My Obzedat is still alive....

The combination of this 3 cards actually make me win 2-1 in this tournament :)

In case you are wondering how I lost that 1 match, also to clear the doubts for my round 3 opponent which said that he had no chance to win against my board, he was playing American Aggro Deck with Reckoners, Snapcaster Mage, Boros Charm, Stonewright (?), Ash Zealot. I had went to 2 life with his deck before I gain a million with Trostani and Thragtusk and then the recurring combo with Obzedat and Trostani.

I WAS STARING AT A VICTORY!

Oh well i wasn't so sure about the rules so I sort of gave away the victory away. Opponent is at 3 life, and I have 5 creatures while he had 4. I am sure to bring 3 damage across but I was afraid of the defending Reckoner to bounce at least 4 damage back to me. I forgot that after damage, my opponent had met with lethal damage first before reckoner's trigger resolve!

So...it was a hard one for me to remember for life....

Remember! Just go for the win! For Me ok!

Well, what can I say. When I say that heaven is unfair to me for a certain thing in my life, it return to me in another way. I said that, "Heaven! Why are you so unfair. When people can earn so much in their life and I only earn such pathetic peanuts". The remark must have alert some kind of detection sensors in heaven and send a message to whoever is in charge up there. They return to me something incredible. Which is a very simple thing really, and that is "The Opportunity to Learn". How many times I will skim through a book and then evaluate it with the very least information i got from the skim saying that it is good or not good. I discovered that this is the seventh entry to this blog. Double-O 7, sounds so James Bond haha. Another day passed without any real happening event. However there is some things that is worth remembering and also some ideas that might be useful in future. Met up with a senior director of a real estate company which happens to be an semi-professional photographer. We are suppose to meet up and chat about the possiblities of printing flyers and also something about his bookmarks. After talking so much about our hobbies, which is photography, i find that he became more friendly. I guess that is what happen when you get into a topic which the person is interested in, he will talk more.
