"Odex, one of Singapore's leading distributors of Japanese animation, has begun sending warning letters to parents of users who allegedly downloaded anime without authorization. Odex has been asking parents to discuss their children's behavior with its representatives, and in at least some cases, pay fines of as much as 3,000 Singapore dollars (about US$2,000). Odex's lawyers meet with each person who receives a letter, and decide on the scope and extent of any penalties. Under Singapore law, "willful and significant" downloading of illegal content is a crime punishable by a fine of up to 20,000 Singapore dollars (US$13,000) or up to six months in prison. Some of the anime Odex has licensed include Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach, D.Gray-man, and Monster. "

I am deeply sadden by the fact that starhub is providing information to odex to pursue anime fansub downloaders. It deprived my weekly dosage of bleach. I will want to make my comments known to everyone who is reading my blog. Firstly, I must agree that odex should start to do something about this, because their company is getting like less profit due to copyright.

HOWEVER, odex i really wish that you guys wake up your idea. I didn't get any quality stuff from you guys. I really wish to purchase anime. I am willing to pay for quality animes from sunshine plaza. At least they are imported from Japan and is of DVD quality and it is fantastic. Let me quote someone from here.

"i dun think it should be covered under it. UNLESS a specific company in they country LICENSED that show and that they are release the shows (HI-Quality) at a constant RATE. But for this anime saga, The company involved (ODEX) aren't releasing what they supposely is licensed to at constant rate with Quality but are doing it in a slow and LOW quality pace. It's not really fans fault for downloading. Fans support animes directly in others ways such as buying figurines, merchandice such as clothes, handphone straps (ORIGNAL ONES FROM KKMN/LATENDO at SUNSHINE PLAZA, NOT THOSE FAKES SELLING AS COMIC CONNECTIONS/TENCHI) and anime magazines(ex: Dengeki Daioh, Megami from Kinokuniya). It should be seen that out fans here are more then willing to pay for quality good etc... Most pple who have already stopped downloading still received the dreaded letter due to the records logged in previous months...is this even fair?"

I believe that the company who licensed the anime should do something about distributing the anime at a constant rate or even release them fast...and High quality...why do I want to watch their version of anime at VCD quality when I can watch them in Hi-Def as a download from the net. Please enlighten me on this...I mean this is pissing me off...I love anime...and I believe that the anime industry in Singapore is a direct compliment from TV, starhub cable TV and fansub download groups and NOT from such companies who licensed the anime to distribute. The reason why their VCD sell is because of reviews from people who DOWNLOAD or watched them from TV or Starhub Cable...come on...the downloads DO help ok...and you guys are sending them out by boxes with extorbitant prices..why should I buy Naruto Box 1 at over 50 bucks when i can get it from Sunshine Plaza at last then 30 bucks...and It's DVD...who cares about VCDs nowadays....

Well, what can I say. When I say that heaven is unfair to me for a certain thing in my life, it return to me in another way. I said that, "Heaven! Why are you so unfair. When people can earn so much in their life and I only earn such pathetic peanuts". The remark must have alert some kind of detection sensors in heaven and send a message to whoever is in charge up there. They return to me something incredible. Which is a very simple thing really, and that is "The Opportunity to Learn". How many times I will skim through a book and then evaluate it with the very least information i got from the skim saying that it is good or not good. I discovered that this is the seventh entry to this blog. Double-O 7, sounds so James Bond haha. Another day passed without any real happening event. However there is some things that is worth remembering and also some ideas that might be useful in future. Met up with a senior director of a real estate company which happens to be an semi-professional photographer. We are suppose to meet up and chat about the possiblities of printing flyers and also something about his bookmarks. After talking so much about our hobbies, which is photography, i find that he became more friendly. I guess that is what happen when you get into a topic which the person is interested in, he will talk more. After he saw the postcard with a good photograph of the nightscene of orchard shot from on top of Fort Canning hill, he was amused and entertained by the picture.
